KT: the listening room

Whilst maintaining the premise of the Kindertotenlieder cycle as a contemplative pivot for the installation, KT: the listening room integrates several other elements that make this piece attach itself to some key values specific to Tokyo urban culture. The sense of confinement to a small space. The idea of seperateness in a multitude of others. The option of self chosen isolation. The ostensive layeredness of the urban fabric. The necessity to occasionally flee the chaos.

Interestingly, the fact that KT: the listening room had to be fit into a container for the 100% Design Tokyo Event enables the installation to travel showing that, in these days, not only goods can be shipped but also experiences. This will allow for the experiment to see if the Tokyo values that partly inspired the piece hold their own in other parts of the world. Will different cities leave different imprints on the values of KT: the listening room?
